We’d both gone missing at one point, but Claire had one thing I didn’t. Someone to notice. So why was I the one still here and she the one still gone?

Nineteen year old Megan Smith has spent the past year working in a small town diner in the middle of nowhere. Life is quiet, simple, safe. Then comes the news that her look-a-like has gone missing.

Still damaged both physically and mentally, Megan’s not looking to be noticed. Wherever she goes from here, it’s a road she needs to take alone. But when Nickolas Ellis takes the job as the new nightshift cook, it scares her how easily her defenses crumble down, down, down for him. But there are secrets she can’t bear to share with just anyone, unspeakable acts that continue to haunt, and when the similarities of Claire’s abduction couples with the fear of an unwanted visitor in town, the urge to run before it all happens again intensifies, threatening the only happiness Megan’s ever found.

5 disturbingly beautiful STARS!!!

*Provided by Netgalley for honest review.*

WOW!  Disturbingly beautiful. Hauntingly poetic. A mix of Captive in the Dark and Hopeless!  It was phenomenal in every way I could describe it. This has been one of my favorites for sure. The writing – flawless. The characters – real, likable, fractured. And the storyline … unbelievably believable!

I generally have a ton to say regarding my favorites. Going on and on about the book. However, in this instance, I believe less is a great deal more. So I’m keeping it short – and no quotes!

I can’t stress this enough – go into this book blind!  Read nothing but the blurb!  This is a book where you need to feel the characters, learn them for yourself. Immerse yourself completely in the story, because if you don’t you’ll be certainly pulled in unexpectedly.  And your adventure won’t be as perfect!

Megan is everything you could want in a heroine. I adored her for everything she was and had been through. She was tough, yet, flighty. She couldn’t seem to extricate herself from her past. A horrible tragic past that no one should ever have to endure. And Nick is more than you could imagine for Hero!  Although you meet the carefree, flirty, 21-year-old at first – you soon realized he’s much more than that. Fierce, protective. He, too, has been through a most awful storm.

Together, Nick and Megan are brilliantly unforgettable!!  The ultimate embodiment of love, sacrifice, and loyalty.

But just as the healing begins – so does the rest of their journey. And, again, it’s disturbing beautiful. It was as heart-warming as it was gut-wrenching. Devon Ashley has certainly done a number on me. This book will be etched in my soul for a while.
