USA TODAY Bestselling Author Dakota Madison returns with another spicy sports romance. This story set in the world of college basketball.
Neuroscience student SEDONA MILLER is perfectly imperfect. She’s slightly nerdy and slightly eccentric, but completely brilliant.
When an unfortunate accident leaves Sedona with an injured arm and she’s fired from her part-time job shelving books at the university library she has to find a new gig fast.
The only job available mid-semester is working as a tutor for the athletic academic center. And the notorious bad boy of the university’s basketball team, JESSE WALKER, is the one and only guy on the new tutor’s roster.
But when SEDONA discovers a secret that could ruin the school’s winning basketball team doing the right thing could mean destroying the only guy she’s ever loved.
**I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.**
Straight out of the gate – the blurb – I knew I’d like it. Brilliant nerdy girl meets college superstar jock. I’m mean really? Who wouldn’t love that? But, to my surprise, this went a bit deeper than just a college romance. I found myself rooting for the characters while their secrets came to light and I was really drawn in by the dynamics of the relationships. The hush-hush tone of one of the situations was one I won’t forget. The best part of it all – the great Dakota Madison touches real world problems. Problems not thought of or discussed often enough.
“You’re the only person who has ever said that. You’re the only person who has ever seen me as anything other than a basketball player.”
Sedona and Jesse were great characters. Sedona, a neuroscience student, was terrific! She was nerdy, eccentric, vegan and material things didn’t matter. Everything she ever had in life was second-hand – which I totally dug! I found myself smiling as I read her voice. She had a dry sense of humor and didn’t take anyone’s shit. Even Jesse!
Jesse was an interesting character for me. Here was this college athlete. Basketball superstar for the college and he was only a freshman. He was sexy and a bit obsessive/possessive. But with he was also considerate, thoughtful and sweet. Jesse had this bad-boy vibe but when he meets Sedona, she finds out that not all rumours are true.
Between the banter, a roommate with a secret, the mom with a bigger secret – the there was a super journey. Taking two people/characters, from different walks of life, and putting them into a situation where trust is a must, they discover so much more about themselves then they ever would have alone.
“Awkward did not even begin to describe our pairing. We’re like two people from different planets trying to communicate when we don’t speak each other’s languages.”
I found this book pulling at my heart-strings. It’s a fact paced read and a bit predictable at times but I enjoyed it!! This was my first book from this author and it won’t be my last!!
