Standalone. No Cliffhanger. HEA. Remaining books in the series can be read in any order.
Being a professional escort comes with its vices. To keep women from getting too clingy, stop them from dropping their panties, and silence them before they can blurt the L word, Rhett has made certain rules. He never breaks them.
1. No Kissing.
2. No Feelings.
3. And definitely, absolutely, no sex.
But when Aspen, a beautiful brunette, hires him to help repair her image to her family, things get complicated. Rhett’s never had a problem separating work from pleasure. But now work and pleasure seem to be one and the same.
4.5 STARS – and many ice cream sundaes!!
Where to even start?! The multi-layered characters? The smoothness of the writing? The numerous laugh out loud moments? The storyline that had me hooked?
First off, this book is told in dual POV. I love that!! I’ve said it many times, but I love being in both characters heads. To know what they are thinking, the emotions they are feeling, and the reasons for their actions. It really helps to become more invested in the characters. E.L. Todd did it in the smoothest possible way! Everything about this book was easy to swallow. There were no points of confusion. Eloquent writing style!
Secondly, the story itself. It’s been done… But not like this!! Rhett is an escort. Owns the company, Beautiful Entourage, actually. But it’s not at all what you think. They have rules. No kissing, no feelings, no sex. They are allowed waist holding and hand holding. They even have contracts that must be signed. The heroine who hires him, Aspen, had an equally different spin. Her father is a tyrant and he had certain ‘demands’ that must be met if she is to take over the oil company as CEO. And this, my friends, is just the tip of the iceberg.
The characters!! I loved everyone! Well, except Isabella! Rhett is not your normal Hero. He’s not cocky, not alpha – he’s sensitive, intelligent, but not a pushover either. He’s just not what you might picture as the Hero whose an escort. He was quite refreshing to read! Rhett is now on my book-boyfriend list!! Aspen was equally refreshing! She’s got an MBA and mostly runs this huge company. She’s got her eye on the CEO seat, but not for financial purposes. Aspen had many demons. Her current situation with her father, her ex-fiancé, and other tragedies in her life have all shaped her into the person she is.
The incredibly humorous and witty banter and the intense chemistry between Rhett and Aspen was like icing in the cake!! The quick back and forth between them was so smart! I actually loved all the dialogue in this book. There are no empty words. Every word had a purpose! And it was so angsty!! A true friendship comes together. Bound by the falling of many dominoes and new beginnings. True soul mates who, together, can sink battleships!!
