Ever read a synopsis/blurb and
just know how you’re going to feel after reading it?
You know it’ll break your heart, have you
smiling or have shredded you.
Reading the blurb for this book – I knew I wanted to read it.
But I didn’t know how I’d feel after… I still don’t.
3 confused STARS!!!
Two is always better than one.
Knowing a fighter’s desires and needs are one thing, but actually experiencing them is another. A Fighter’s Desire gives you not one, but two stories full of hardcore passion, angst, and action that’ll leave you breathless and aching for more.
Part One: Ryley and Camden Jameson, well-known MMA fighters and identical twins, were just as aggressive and passionate in the bed as they were in the ring. They loved a good fight, and that’s exactly what they got when they met Ashleigh Warren. The brothers had a habit of sharing things—including women—and she happened to be the only one they truly craved. However, the problem was getting her to agree to their proposition. It was one she couldn’t refuse, but she knew it wouldn’t be easy to win. Nonetheless, she sure as hell was going to enjoy it.
Part Two: Fighting temptation isn’t easy when you’re constantly around the one person you’ve desired more than any other. Gabriella Reynolds was warned by her brother, MMA Heavyweight Champion Matt Reynolds, to stay away from his friends; they only wanted one thing, and in the end they’d break her heart. She heard it, but the desire to have the one man she couldn’t led her down the forbidden path to pursue him; he also happens to be one of her brother’s best friends. Tyler Rushing can’t deny his attraction to her, and he’s afraid she’ll want more than what he can give her. When he finds out that’s not the case … everything changes. They have no choice but to keep their time a secret, and it’s a secret that’ll stay with them forever.
Confused. That’s the final feeling that I had after reading this book. It’s written a bit differently than any other book I’ve read. I liked that – a lot! I just have the feeling that this can’t be all. I was left with an empty feeling from reading this book. It’s divided into 2 parts as is pointed out in the synopsis. It’s clear it’s about MMA fighter’s and the desires they have and choices they must make. When I dive into a book I want the whole story. It doesn’t have to be tied in a nice and neat bow, but it must present me with the pieces I need to finish wrapping. And, in my opinion, I wasn’t.
The first part of the book is written about twins, Ryley and Camden, and Ashleigh. We also meet her BFF Gabriella – who we read about in Part 2 – and Ash’s friend, Colin. Ashleigh has always loved Colin but kept that information only to herself. Colin has a girlfriend and there’s no sign of them breaking up anytime soon. She begins to spend more time with Gabby. Gabby’s good friend is… yep you guessed it. Ryley. Ryley and Camden are your typical cocky, alpha-male, fighter’s. They are blond and sexy. They like to share – everything. When Ryley first lays eyes on Ash, he has to have her. He can’t stop thinking about her, can’t get her out of his mind. While Ashleigh is snarky, sassy, and smart. She’s girl-next-door beautiful. Only she doesn’t see it. She has no idea why Ryley and Camden continue to instigate a relationship with her and she can’t help but to want them to. The banter they share is great! But I felt as I never got the whole story. Ryley shares the reason why the twins behave as they do – I do feel there were some questions answered but when we finally reach the end on Part 1 – I was incredibly frustrated at the fact that was it. It was as though I opened a new puzzle and just as I’m about to finish… I run out of pieces. I was completely let down. Feeling confused, frustrated, and empty. I have SO MANY questions that never got answered.
I won’t go into as much detail as I did with Part 1. Just know that Part 2 is about Gabby and her relationship/non-relationship with MMA fighter, Tyler. I read the second part like a ninja on a mission. I probably finished it in less than an hour. Gabby is, in many ways, like Ashleigh. She isn’t impressed with the fame or fortune. She doesn’t take crap from anyone, especially not a sexy, alpha-male whom she’s been lusting from afar. Gabby and Tyler have an undeniable connection – chemistry off the charts hot – and then it’s over. Just… nothing but a big black hole with so many question unanswered I couldn’t even get them all on one page.
It was hard coming to what to rate this book. I did enjoy what I read – while I was reading it. The story flowed and the chemistry between characters was terrific. The writing was witty and smart. There just wasn’t enough for me. This book is hot. Crazy hot. And there’s nothing really left to the imagination when reading the hot stuff. Don’t let my review deter you. It’s a good book – just not a great book.
